I just have a couple random things to say. So here I go:
1. Today I did the SMS English activity again with a class. Oh, by the way, it was the class that two weeks ago was cancelled and I was all upset because they were my favorite class! So yay! I got to see them once more. (They rearranged stuff so I could see them... not at my request though.) But anyway, I wrote all the SMS words on the board and had the kids come to the board and fill it in with regular English. One of the abbreviations was
vg. The guess that was on the board was
Vegas. With a smiley face next to it. The kid who wrote it is hilarious and one of my faves, and he proudly raised his hand high when I asked who wrote it. So when I went around correcting them on the board, I said, "Well, I'm going to leave this one here because I like it. But the other answer is
very good." I further explained that, in my vocabulary at least, Las Vegas is written as
LV. However, I might use it more than the typical American because one of my bffs lives there. Anyway, the other one that made me laugh was
w/e. The guess was
wife. Haha! It's supposed to be
weekend.
2. Last weekend I bought two American flags when I was buying my others. I put them in two of the English classrooms. I'm really proud of them. These classrooms are so boring and bland. They needed some educational decorations. Now these classrooms are stylin'!
3. Today I bought the most delicious jelly. It's honeydew flavored and basically the best jelly I've EVER eaten. Seriously. I could eat the whole jar for breakfast tomorrow. But I won't. It's made in Vosges, which is just north of where I live. Personally, I think it tastes kind of caramely.

4. Tonight after school got out (which is late here... 5:35), the English and German teachers, along with the principal, held a little shindig for Mario and me. We had some drinks and treats, and believe it or not, for the first time I actually spoke French with the English teachers. Kind of weird after going this long without doing it. And I don't know what exactly the drink was I was drinking, but it definitely had alcohol in it, and I must have drunk it too fast because I could feel myself getting kind of slap happy. (And I really didn't have much!) And trying to have a semi-educated conversation in French with my colleagues. I mean it was fine but I was just laughing because it didn't help my concentration on the language, and they probably thought I was stupid for not being able to conjugate a freaking verb. But anyway, we both also got little presents from the teachers. It was a fun little hour of my time here. Nothing over the top special, but a nice way to say goodbye to everyone, even though I'll still see them for the remainder of the week and perhaps before I leave again to go home. But the real reason I even started writing about this was because I wanted to say how funny it was when Guy, one of the English teachers, came up to me and asked, "Hi Betsy! How are you? So when are you leaving [to travel]? Do you need any money?" HAHA! I felt like he was my dad or something. Do I need any money? Why, if I say yes are you going to fork over a hundred euros? And I am pretty sure he was dead serious. After I laughed and said no, he really rally insisted that I could ask him for some if I needed it. But of course I declined.
That's all I've got for today!

I'm curious about this honeydew jelly. Does it actually taste like honeydew melon? Are honeydew the same in France as the U.S.? You know I love jam making so I need to know these things so I can replicate this in my kitchen this summer....
Thanks Bets!
Ok, some internet research has revealed your jelly is probably not honeydew melon, but rather honeydew HONEY; that explains the sweet, honey-like taste. Whatevs- I'm still totally trying to make melon jams this summer.
1) I thought w/e was whatever
2) hahaha about the whole do you need money situation
